Combined PMI / ITIL Stream

Aims

The aim of this course is to provide professionals in the IT industry with an advanced course of study in Systems Development that is current, relevant and integrates industry certification in these fields.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, graduates will possess:

  • At least one industry certification from one of the following organisations:
    • PMI
    • ITIL
  • Skills in the design, implementation and management of computer systems;
  • Systems development knowledge and skills;
  • Skills in identifying requirements and defining solution architectures;
  • Problem-solving skills and methodologies when troubleshooting and documenting systems problems;
  • The ability to analyse complex client business and technical requirements and select appropriate solutions, and
  • Skills in the development and deployment of solutions that meet customer business objectives for functionality, performance, and cost.

Industry Certifications

The following certifications are included in the combined Project Management Institute (PMI) – IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification stream;

  • ITIL® V3 Foundation
  • PMI® Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
  • ITIL® V3 Release, Control and Validation practitioner (Elective)
  • ITIL® V3 Operational Support and Analysis practitioner (Elective)
  • PMI® Project Management Professional (Elective)

Course Structure

The Course consists of 4 subjects which must be comprised of 2 university subjects and 2 industry subjects. For students that do not qualify for any credit, the recommended duration to complete the Graduate Certificate is 2 trimesters. There are 3 trimesters per year and we recommend a commitment of 2 subjects per trimester.

Credit:

Academic credit is available to students who can provide proof that they have passed relevant industry examinations. Prospective students can obtain an estimate of credit entitlements by filling out the Request more Information form.

NOTE: The actual level of credit awarded will be confirmed upon acceptance into the Degree.
