Graduate Certificate in Information Systems Security

Aims

The aim of this course is to provide professionals in the IT industry with a course of study in designing, planning, and implementing security as part of a secure computing environment and integrates industry certification in these fields.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, graduates will posses:

  • skills in the design, implementation and management of secure computer networks;
  • certification from one of the following:
      • Microsoft
      • Check Point
      • Cisco
      • CompTIA
  • higher order network design knowledge and skills;
  • an informed and reflexive perspective on IT Security issues;
  • problem-solving skills and methodologies when troubleshooting and documenting complex computing problems;
  • the ability to analyse complex client business security requirements and select appropriate solutions, and
  • skills in the development of leading edge security solutions that meets customer business objectives for functionality and performance.

Course Structure:

To graduate with the Graduate Certificate, students must satisfactorily complete 4 subjects from the Master of Information Systems Security, two of which must be industry certification subjects (industry certification subjects are subjects that start with the prefix ‘ITI’, 'ITE', or 'MGI').   For a full list of the subjects available in the Master of Information Systems Security, click on the industry stream that you are interested in:  

Credit:

Academic Credit

Credit is available for Academic Subjects to students who have completed Postgraduate study that covers the same content as a subject in the program. Thorough detail of any completed studies that are proposed for credit must be supplied.

Industry Credit

Credit is available for Industry (Certification-based) Subjects to students who can provide proof that they have passed relevant industry examinations. Prospective students can fill out the questionnaire at http://www.itmasters.com.au/eligibility.aspx  to obtain an estimate of their credit entitlements.

Actual level of credit awarded will be confirmed upon acceptance into the course.
