Master of Computing Research
Aims
The aim of this course is to provide professionals skills in research
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, graduates will possess:
- The ability to formulate good research questions in a computing discipline
- The ability able to critically evaluate the approaches to address research problems
- The ability to successfully complete a major draft of a literature review for a doctoral dissertation
- A strong familiarity with the major research issues to be addressed when designing a research methodology for a research study
- The ability to produce authoritative reports that help solve a problem (White paper)
Course Structure:
To graduate with the Masters of Computing Research, students must satisfactorily complete the following 4 double subjects from the Doctor of Information Technology course.
ITC711 Computing Research Preparation (Double Subject)
ITC712 Research Methods in Computing (Double Subject)
ITC713 Advanced Readings in Information Technology (Double Subject)
ITC714 Project Method & Proposal (Double Subject)
Course duration
The Masters of Information Technology is offered part-time and can be completed in 2 years (4 sessions); however, actual duration is dependent on subject availability, mode of enrolment and the session of commencement. The course can be fast tracked by enrolling the thesis component in full-time mode.
The course is available by distance education only and is offered in Session 1 and 2 commencing February and July each year.
This course is part of the Doctor of Information Technology.
Students wishing to complete this Masters, enrol in the Doctor of Information Technology and exit on completion of the 4 subjects-ITC 711, ITC 712, ITC713 and ITC 714.
Students who wish to continue on to the Doctor of Information Technology must obtain a credit average grade on the ITC711 and ITC 712, ITC 713 and ITC 714 subjects.
